For someone like me, do not know yet, I tell them that the alebrije is a craft originating in Mexico. These animals are made of paper mache, cardboard or even wood but know if it is limited to these materials, they turn out to be fantastic animals, they all blend characteristics of different animals to suit the artist, the only law is the very colorful. They
born in a magical dream of a humble profession cartonero Mexican named Pedro. Peter did not see the tunnel have been those who have had near-death experiences in his experience he went to a place surrounded by nature and populated by fantastic creatures that were pounced on and did wake up suddenly, and not only did not die, but lived another 50 years and set about making those little cardboard alebrijes, thereby creating a popular tradition.
Here you can see these 2 small alebrijes I've made of paper mache, one is a green caterpillar-finned fish, parrot beak, tail of a scorpion and spider legs, the other is a beetle red-neck TiƱosa humanoid face, legs centipede, bat wings and tail of a dragon.
It's fun, haha.
